Ephesians Catechism

Updated: Jun 12

Ephesians serves as an opportunity to teach and reinforce core theology for the Christian. And so over the time of the series, we’ll take advantage of this by using catechism questions in our community groups and family worship guides.

And “what is a catechism?” you might be asking. A catechism is a means of discipleship instruction by posing a series of questions about God and his creatures, and answering those questions from the Bible. A catechism is man-made, but rooted and based in Scripture—like a statement of faith, creed, or confession. A catechism does not replace the Word of God; it helpfully articulates it.

Our heart here is not rote memorization, which can have its virtues. But rather internalization—equipping us to articulate faithful answers to questions concerning God, the Bible, etc. We think that idea is a biblical one. See Paul’s instruction in Titus 2:1. “But as for you, teach what accords with sound doctrine.”

We’ve adapted portions of the Westminster Shorter Catechism (with updated language) and the New City Catechism for our questions.
