FIND OUT MORE COMPASSION MINISTRY Our Compassion Ministry was created out of a belief that Jesus has directly called his followers to love and care for individuals in need. The Compassion Ministry seeks to provide ongoing outreach opportunities for the people of Maranatha to participate in so that they can be the hands and feet of Jesus to these individuals. Through this ministry, we are given opportunities as the body to step out in faith into uncomfortable spaces and be obedient to Christ's commands. MONTHLY OUTREACHES Each month, we extend care and support to individuals in need throughout the Central Ohio area by serving meals and distributing essential items, including hygiene kits, food bags, and necessities such as socks. Donations are accepted year-round to support these efforts. On the first Saturday of each month, we’ll provide a free meal, creating space to welcome people, build relationships, meet practical needs, and share the hope of the gospel. We’re looking for members who are willing to help prepare and serve meals, welcome guests, clean up, and build meaningful relationships with those who come. This is an opportunity for all of us to live out the love we have received from Christ by serving others with generosity and humility. One simple way we do this is through our Blessing Box—a resource available to anyone in need. We invite you to join us in keeping it stocked. While there’s no specific list, we are always collecting non-perishable food items such as soups, spaghetti, pasta sauce, cup noodles, individual mac and cheese, canned vegetables, tuna, canned chicken, and similar items. Items can be dropped off at any church location in the Compassion Donation bins. T his is a small act that can make a meaningful difference. As we give, we reflect the generosity of Christ and care for our neighbors right here in Southside. QUESTIONS? FOUNDATION DINNERS On the third Saturday of every other month, we serve at a local soup kitchen in Lancaster from 3:30 to 5:00 PM. During this time, we provide a warm meal and fellowship to those in need. For this event we need four volunteers to assist with setup and meal service. FIND UPCOMING DATES MORE INFO CARE PORTAL We partner with CarePortal, a ministry of the Global Orphan Project , to serve vulnerable families right here in our local community—including Pickerington and Canal Winchester. CarePortal is a platform that connects churches with real-time, local needs submitted by child welfare agencies and community organizations. These needs often come from families who are on the brink of crisis—such as a single mother in need of a bed to keep her child at home, or a grandparent needing assistance with utility bills while caring for grandchildren. When a request is submitted, it's shared with local churches who can choose to respond and meet the need. When someone from Maranatha responds to a physical need, we have the opportunity to deliver the item ourselves—creating a chance for personal connection and ministry. Ways You Can Get Involved: 1. Become a Responder Sign up to receive email notifications about current needs in our area. There are only a few requests each week, and there's no pressure to respond if you're unable. When you're able to help—whether by donating an item, giving financially, or referring someone who can—you simply click "I Can Help." If it’s a physical need, we’ll coordinate the details with you. 2. Become a Connector Help deliver donated items and build relationships with the families we serve. From time to time, we may need volunteers with a truck to help transport larger items. 3. Do Both! Many of our volunteers choose to serve as both Responders and Connectors, helping to meet needs and make meaningful connections in our community. This storm caused significant damage to Maranatha Southside’s roof and interior spaces, including the church’s Compassion Ministry room. Maranatha was met immediately with help from members and the Ohio Disaster relief to help tarp the building until further repairs can be made. If you would like to help support the restoration of Maranatha Southside, you can contribute directly to the Building Restoration Fund. Additionally, our Compassion Ministry lost the majority of its resources to water damage. If you would like to help us rebuild these resources, you can provide needed items through our Amazon Wishlist. Justin Bubar serves as the Lead Pastor of this church plant. Justin and his wife Jenna share a deep love for the gospel and a burden to see Jesus Christ proclaimed clearly and faithfully. This congregation has now launched in Baltimore, OH, the very place Dan and his wife, Keela, have been praying about for many years. The Lord has provided an opportunity to merge with another congregation in Baltimore, and they began gathering together on January 11th, 2026. In the coming years, they are excited to build a thriving church community and continue raising up leaders to serve in the city of Baltimore and the surrounding communities. As he and his wife were both serving in various roles in the church, God made it clear in 2018 that He had church planting in store for them. God brought them to join Maranatha and they began to experience what life in a church plant was like. David was installed as a pastor in 2020. A year later, Maranatha's eldership began to look ahead to a church plant. It was clear God had been preparing them to go and serve the community David grew up in, went to school in, lived in and loved. Maranatha Canal Winchester has continued to see God's faithfulness as they teach the Bible deeply and practice meaningful Christian community. The Women's Discipleship Cohort seeks to grow the women of Maranatha in their Bible reading skills as well as focused time on spiritual disciplines like prayer, Scripture memory, meditation and rest. FIND OUT MORE WOMEN'S DISCIPLESHIP COHORT The Women’s Discipleship Cohort is focused on equipping and training the women of our church to both grow in spiritual maturity and to use the gifts God has given each of us to do the work of ministry among both believers and unbelievers. Every year, the WDC provides an opportunity for the women of Maranatha to participate in a Bible study together. These studies are aimed at growing Bible reading skills, developing consistency in spiritual disciplines, and building community. Over the past six years, our women have studied Genesis, Exodus, and Hebrews. In addition to our yearly Bible study, the WDC meets a few times a year for workshops on specific topics. During these workshops, we have covered topics such as teaching the Word, discipleship, evangelism, sabbath, lament., and repentance with God and others. These mornings are aimed at providing our women with teaching and practical skills to grow in godly disciplines. FIND OUT MORE STUDENT MINISTRY Maranatha’s student ministry seeks to equip young men and women of good Christian character and discipline available to students, that they may be discipled in doctrine, prayer, worship, service, and fellowship. GROWING DISCIPLES Student Ministry exists to help junior high and high school students grow as disciples of Jesus in a Christ-centered community. Students from all Maranatha congregations—and their friends—gather to connect, worship, study God’s Word, and build meaningful relationships. Each evening includes time to settle in, engage in a group activity, spend focused time in Scripture, and break into small groups for discussion and prayer. Through worship nights, game nights, and intentional discipleship, students are encouraged to deepen their faith, ask honest questions, and learn what it looks like to follow Christ in everyday life. They have been faithfully involved at Maranatha since July 2024 and have been affirmed by the Elders to plant a third Maranatha congregation. This congregation has now launched in Baltimore, OH, the very place Dan and Keela have been praying about for many years. The Lord has provided an opportunity to merge with another congregation in Baltimore, and they began gathering together on January 11th, 2026. In the coming years, they are excited to build a thriving church community and continue raising up leaders to serve in the city of Baltimore and the surrounding communities.
